“One of the greatest deterrents to creativity is the inner voice that constantly whispers in our ear that we’re not good enough, that nobody will approve of what we’re doing, and that they don’t really like us anyway.”

spillyourheart--deactivated2010 asked: I love art. I have never been a visual artist, but I admire those able to create it. :) I also keep letters, cards, tickets, passes or anything of that nature. When I’m feeling sentimental or nostalgic, I’ll look through those things. You’re so interesting! :)
I deleted the post from last night… I don’t really want it on my blog as it was written while I wasn’t thinking straight. I’ll forget about it and move on, I hopo.
Today was a rather good day! I had 3 hours of art which is heaven, although I didnt get as much done as I would have liked. I’ve been drawing old cameras for my “Now and Then” project, which...
Gosh, this is one of the few times I can say that I really need a hug. Sadly for the most wonderful hugs, I’m going to have to wait for a least another two weeks.
Day by day. No yesterdays and no tomorrows. The barometer never changes, the...

Dilemmas and potentially diastrous decisions.
I was talking to my art teacher a few days ago about my plans after college, and how I planned to do a Foundation degree in art first before going on to do my degree as I’m unsure on what degree I want to study. I just don’t feel ready to decide where I want to specialise yet, and I wouldn’t want to waste all of that money to find I studied the wrong thing.
I told her about my...
It would be one of my ultimate dreams to study at LARA, which is probably one of the only real art ateliers or schools left in the country. To actually be taught the basics in art, like perspective, anatomy or colour theory is basically non-existant now in all so called “art” courses… which is a shame. Imagine if you weren’t taught how to count in a maths class, or how to...

Yoga starts again tomorrow.
I really cannot wait, it’s so fun and relaxing. It’s nothing strenuous like most people seem to think, and you dont bend yourself into pretzels or other obscure positions. It mainly focuses on breathing and meditation. A lot of the things in the class may sounds odd, but it really does work in so many different ways. It can help relax you when you are stressed, calm you down, make you...
theavengersinitiative said: It’s impressive visually, but gameplay wise, it’s just a rip off of GoW
(Figured out an easier way to reply!)
Ahh yes, I definitely agree with you there, actually. Although personally I wouldn’t mind another game like GoW; now that was a great...
Vanquish is now available for pre-order!
Even though I won’t be able to play it, I am rather excited! I will probably end up playing on it at my Dad’s girlfriends house, as her son will more than likely buy it as he has the demo version. It really does look like an amazing game, it reminds me of Halo in some ways - if you haven’t seen the trailer for it yet, I recommend you watch it!
I still have my fingers crossed...

Walking home from college while clutching my sketchbook under one arm, carrying my art box on the other and fighting to keep my bag on my shoulder, I thought about a lot of things. Everyone knows of those times where your mind just wanders, and it seems that everything imaginable to you crosses your mind.
The main thing which I remember is thinking about art. I do this every day, but today I was...

– From this article, here.
I've left it too long.
I have this desire, this need to create, yet I am too scared to put the pencil to paper and start. I can feel it burning inside, a huge amount of motivation to work, yet I can’t seem to actually do it. The easy answer would simply be to just DO IT. Why can’t I do that?
I dream of creating these portraits and illustrations of characters from my mind, of real people, and I know I have...
Thank you, Dad!
I was having trouble watching my art lectures and classes which I have bought and downloaded… because I had to watch them in QuickTime. The videos constantly skipped and jumped around at around 10 second intervals, which was extremely annoying!
I told my dad last night, and he told me to download the K Lite codec pack. I’ve just installed it, and am currently watching one of my...

In the vast reaches of the dry, cold night, thousands of stars were constantly appearing, and their sparkling icicles, loosened at once, began to slip gradually toward the horizon.

I had a great conversation with my dad tonight.
I love being able to talk to him about computers and games, as I can never talk to my friends or anyone else about it. They just don’t take interest in it at all and stop listening to me within 5 seconds, so I gave up trying long ago. I’m glad my dad passed on that interest down to me, I’d much rather stay at home playing games on my PC than be sat in a park getting drunk.

I feel like I've achieved a lot tonight.
I’ve finished mounting my photographs for my art project onto boards, and tried a more “imaginative” way to present them… it’s not that imaginative really. I’ve also presented my research into a local art project and emails onto another board.
While doing that, I decided how I want to develop my project. I’m going to take a more personal route with this...
I’ve heard people say that once you die, thats it. Some people believe that after death, we go to another place; a better place. But what about here on earth? If you have children, and they have grand-children, the generation after that will have never met you, and slowly your mark on this world fades, until you are forgotten. The memories of you begin to fade until they are no more. Some...
I love surprises!
Today I came home from college to find two packages for me! I love getting things in the mail. I was only expecting one, which was some new paint brushes I ordered last Sunday, so I was intruiged to what was inside this other package.
I opened it, to find four bars of Green and Blacks chocolate (which is some of the nicest chocolate in the world), with a note saying “Emergency Chocolate...
I'm so glad to be back at College.
I am no longer bored out of my mind, and I get to see everyone again who I havent seen all summer. My timetable is great too, I get to leave college early on mondays and a wednesday. I get three sessions of double art lessons, which means I can get a lot more work done than when we have seperate lessons. I’m so glad I took the Double Award art course… it means I have 10 hours of art...
I usually try to avoid a long ranting post, but...
I must rant about this, or I feel that I may explode with annoyance. It may seem trivial to some, but this really, really gets to me.
I looked on facebook and found a status quoting this supposed “fact”:
“Recent male graduates in arts and humanities are earning no more than those who left education after A levels, a study from the Institute of Education has found.”
It...
