Sketch swap FTW →
Found this in my tracked tags, now I can’t stop! Well, at least I’m drawing in some form?

Very unproductive day, and feeling rather guilty for said unproductiveness. I was going to make cupcakes today using my new cupcake decorating kits and tools, but like the fool I am, I forgot to leave the butter out to make the frostings with so it’s currently a solid block on the side in the kitchen. I think I’ll be making those tomorrow then! I’m also regretting the decision to...

Light.
The christmas project for university has me completely stumped… I have no ideas on how to begin at all. As the theme is Light, I might be confused because it’s not actually a physical thing, you can only really observe the effects of light, or the lack of it.
One idea I had was waves, as light is basically radiation of different wavelengths depending on its frequency. The only...

Hmm, I don’t think I’ll be leaving the house today as I’m feeling rather ill. Not to worry! It gives me more time to get into this habit of sketching, and carrying on with this drawing challenge. I don’t think I helped myself by staying up until 2:30am last night though, although I was drawing!

Christmas has been lovely this year, although each year it seems to change slightly! This year I spent the morning and afternoon here at home, then my sister, brother and I spent the night at my dad and fiancé’s house. I admit, I did feel guilty staying overnight as I was scared my mum would think we didn’t want to be with her on christmas, but it was just me worrying over nothing. It...
How to Think Creatively →
subcreation:
1. Saturation: Once the problem or creative challenge has been defined, the next stage of creativity is a left hemisphere activity that paradoxically requires absorbing one’s self in what’s already known. Any creative breakthrough inevitably rests on the shoulders of all that came before it. For a painter, that might mean studying the masters. For me, it involves reading widely and...

100 Drawing Challenge
35) Hold My Hand
Graphite
21/12/11
This is my first drawing for the challenge! For this theme I chose to do a quick master study of the hands from Michelangelo’s ‘The Creation of Adam’ (circa 1511), I liked how the hand’s weren’t quite touching even with the two figures stretching out towards each other. After my life drawing lessons at university, I wanted to...

The 100 Drawing Challenge
Make 100 pictures each having a theme listed below. Each picture should have ONE and only ONE theme for it to count.
No time limit, so have fun!
The main picture should be drawn but should not be limited to this. For all fair purposes, people are allowed to use software, e.g. Photoshop to create the pictures.
Pictures should be of own artistic ability. Your pictures can be anything from...

My christmas project from univeristy!
I do indeed have a project to do over christmas, I knew I’d have one as our tutor likes to keep us all working hard! This is the email he sent to us all:
Your Christmas project is “LIGHT” You have been working on projects in Semester 1 that made you look at working processes loosely based on Research-Analysis-Conclusion. As you progress on your degree you will need to...

I’ve decided that it’s too much hassle to maintain two blogs, the two being this, and my art blog. I struggle to post regularly on this one, let alone keeping up with two! So I’ve decided I’m just going to delete the art blog, and post my work on this one instead! I didn’t do this to begin with as posting my work was really daunting, but now I’ve managed to do...

Appointment of Tracey Emin as professor of drawing...
So, I’ve just discovered that Tracey Emin has been appointed professor of drawing at the RA. Now, I’m not going to how good or bad of an artist she is… but reading this has left me really confused.
“But the evidence of her talent is there, on paper. Her drawings are the Real Thing. If you dismiss them you are foolhardy. She is an expressionist whose jagged angry line...

Yesterday was the the hand-in day for my university work! I spent the day putting up my work and organising it all ready for assessment. I’m really proud that I had everything finished, and that I stayed on top of all my work! It was weird to see how much work I’ve done in the three months of being at uni, if anyone had told me I’d manage to do even half of this I’d have...

My 100 drawing challenge is postponed until friday, as I’m having to finish off all of my uni work ready to hand in, and I want to make sure I do as much as I possibly can before then! However, it’s definitely still happening, I’m making sure of it =)

One drawing a day.
I’m solving my ‘problem’ with not keeping a sketchbook by… drawing! I’m going to challenge myself to do one drawing a day, whether it’s a quick sketch or a detailed drawing doesn’t matter, I just have to do one. I might end up doing more, who knows! When’s a better time to begin than… right now? It can’t be that hard to do a drawing each...

Ya, I’m trying not to make myself feel bad about not doing it, as everyone works in different ways! I was just thinking about what my tutors were saying to me; that whenever I have an idea I should put it into my sketchbook. Obviously they were referring to my university projects, but I began thinking on the larger scale… my problem may be that I think too much about these things!

I need to get into the habit of sketching, or at least using the sketchbooks I have 3 or more times a week. I’m awful with keeping diaries, and just as bad with my many attempted art journals! I’m not sure if setting myself “challenges” will help, but it’s worth a try. I mean, what kind of person who supposedly enjoys art doesn’t sketch, paint or draw? I...
My sketchbook can be very ritualistic. I use the same type of book, same two...

Oh, I’m also getting around to organising my art blog. It’s been made for a while but I haven’t posted anything there yet. I’ll let you all know when I have it running! It feels weird making a blog for my own art work, but I think I’m going to treat it as more of an “online sketchbook” than a more professional blog… maybe. I just need to get around...

Univeristy has been taking up a lot of my time, but what’s changed there! Luckily I’m enjoying what I’m doing so it’s not all bad =) even if it can be tiring at times!
I’ve just finished two days of life drawing, this time with a different tutor and model. Our tutor this time is an animator, so it was interesting to have some life drawing lessons from a different...

No matter how short lived it was… it snowed today! It was exciting to see, but normally snow makes me feel really happy, this time it just made me feel really sad. It’s because my cat’s still missing, over three months later, and its obviously getting colder and more wintry and I can’t bear to think of her being out there somewhere freezing, or worse. As much as I just want...

I’m having some success on the christmas present front! I managed to buy something else for my mum’s present, which I think is better than what I originally planned to buy her. I also bought one part of my sisters present today, as well as half of my dad’s present is sorted out as well. I’m getting my little step sister a sketchbook and painting Hello Kitty onto the front...

I’ve found my mum the perfect christmas present, but alas, I found it on eBay… and the nature of auctions can be uncertain! I am really hoping I win this, as I know it would mean so much to my mum and she deserves something very special. Fingers crossed!
Edit: Well it’s gone way out of my price range now, which is a shame. But! I have back-up ideas so I’m not too...
